PTA Launches VPN Registration for Reliable Internet Access

-

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a program to regulate VPN and IP address registration, aiming to ensure consistent internet connectivity nationwide.

This initiative covers IP addresses and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and is available to freelancers, businesses, and foreign embassies in Pakistan to maintain seamless connectivity.

The PTA emphasized that VPN registration will help users maintain secure and reliable internet services. Foreign missions have been urged to register their VPNs promptly to avoid potential disruptions.

The registration process, which is free of charge, typically takes two to three days after verification by the internet service provider. However, users needing more than five IP addresses will incur an IP whitelisting fee.

Additionally, servers located outside Pakistan but serving local users must also be registered under this program.

With this initiative, the PTA aims to regulate internet usage, ensure compliance with national policies, and enhance cybersecurity for users.
