“Virus Alert” – Polio Case in Islamabad After 16 Years – Government Steps Up Vaccination Efforts

-

Ayesha Raza Farooq, a health official, confirmed the first polio case in 16 years in Union Council No. 4 of Islamabad, raising concerns about the virus’s return to the capital after more than a decade.

This case marks a significant setback in the country’s fight against polio, bringing this year’s total to 17 nationwide.

Anwar-ul-Haq, Coordinator of the National Emergency Operations Center, emphasized, “We are intensifying efforts to vaccinate every child,” underscoring the government’s renewed commitment to eradicating the virus.

To address the threat, health authorities are ramping up immunization drives to prevent further cases and protect the nation’s children from the polio virus.
