PM Shehbaz Sharif Arrives in New York for 79th UNGA Session

-

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has landed in New York to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

His address to the assembly is scheduled for Friday, where he is expected to present Pakistan’s stance on key international and regional issues, including the ongoing disputes in Jammu and Kashmir, and Palestine.

PM Shehbaz will also underscore Pakistan’s strong commitment to multilateral diplomacy and the pivotal role of the United Nations in maintaining global peace and security.

In addition, the prime minister will engage in several high-level meetings focusing on critical challenges such as rising sea levels and peacebuilding initiatives through the UN Security Council.

He is also set to hold bilateral talks with world leaders, meet with the UN Secretary-General, and engage with the US-Pakistan Business Council, alongside Pakistani bankers, to promote Pakistan’s pro-business and investment-friendly policies.

The high-level UNGA session, held from September 24 to 28, will be attended by over 130 heads of states and governments, with strict security measures in place around the UN complex.
