An aircraft from a foreign airline caught fire upon landing at Peshawar airport on Thursday. The incident involved a Saudi Air flight arriving from Riyadh.
Emergency procedures were immediately activated, leading to the swift evacuation of passengers and crew using emergency slides. Firefighters responded promptly and successfully extinguished the flames engulfing the aircraft.
Luckily there were no casualties reported among passengers or crew.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which appears to have occurred during the landing phase.
The incident caused temporary disruptions at Peshawar airport, leading to a 24-hour closure due to the aircraft’s presence on the taxiway.
A Notice to Airmen (Notam) indicated that the runway will remain closed from 10:35 am today until the same time tomorrow.
Due to the complexity of the aircraft removal operation, the closure period may be extended.
