Pakistan’s First National Sex Offenders Register Unveiled

-

In a significant step toward combating sexual violence and abuse, the Ministry of Law and Justice, alongside NADRA and the National Police Bureau (NBP), launched Pakistan’s first National Sex Offenders Register at an event in Islamabad today.

This landmark initiative aims to establish a more proactive and accessible system for institutions and the public. As mandated by Section 24 of the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Act, 2021, NADRA took on the responsibility of developing the register.

In September 2023, the Ministry of Law and Justice, in collaboration with a specially formed committee, finalized the regulations governing the register.
