Pakistan’s Donkey Population Rises, Punjab Leads the Race

-

Pakistan’s latest donkey census has been tallied — and the results are neigh-ver short of surprising! 🫏 Punjab has galloped way ahead of the rest, claiming the crown as the country’s ultimate donkey hub.

According to the government’s freshly released 2024 Agricultural Census, Punjab is home to a staggering 2.403 million donkeys, leaving other provinces far behind in this four-legged race. Sindh takes second place with 1.081 million, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa trots into third with 782,000. Meanwhile, Balochistan — the underdog of the donkey derby — has just 630,000, the lowest count in the country.

Islamabad, the federal capital, adds a humble 4,000 to the grand tally. For context, Punjab has 1.773 million more donkeys than Balochistan, 1.621 million more than Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 1.322 million more than Sindh — talk about a population gap!

Nationwide, Pakistan’s donkey population now stands at a hefty 4.9 million, showing a steady rise compared to previous years. While the report doesn’t say if the donkeys are aware of their numerical dominance, one thing’s for sure — they remain an essential part of the country’s rural workforce, quietly hauling loads, pulling carts, and supporting livelihoods across the land.

So, whether you see them as loyal work companions or silent contributors to the economy, one fact stands: in Pakistan’s latest livestock lineup, donkeys have proved they’re not just hanging around — they’re multiplying and making sure Punjab stays the undisputed king of the paddock! 🏆📊
