In his latest directives, Karachi Traffic Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ahmed Nawaz has instructed against issuing traffic tickets to commuters rushing home from 5 pm until the time of iftar throughout the ongoing month of Ramadan.
He has mandated all traffic officers in the city to facilitate smooth traffic flow, ensuring that citizens on the roads reach home in time to break their fast.
The DIG emphasized allowing commuters traveling with their families to proceed with a warning instead of receiving a ticket.
Instead, traffic officers have been instructed to prioritize enforcing one-way violations, which can often lead to road accidents and disrupt traffic flow.
DIG Nawaz also emphasized the importance of avoiding rickshaw, car, and motorcycle parking at turning points.
“Officers without body-worn cameras will not issue challans. Traffic officers and cops will not stand on the roads together and they will ensure strict compliance with fast lane at Sharea Faisal, directing the motorcyclists to keep in by-lane,” the official stated.
Moreover, he directed the traffic officials to designate time for car lifting, which will be done only in case of double parking or illegal parking. The DIG warned of departmental action against officers found misbehaving with citizens.
