Molvi – Mister Alliance JUI-F Seeks PTI’s Backing for Senate Seats

-

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman is seeking support from Pakistan.

Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for securing two Senate seats in return for full cooperation in parliament.

Sources reveal that JUI-F is pushing for PTI’s backing to elect two of its candidates, while PTI’s committee has so far agreed to support only one. Among the candidates,

JUI-F is aiming to elect former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Ghulam Ali as a senator, though PTI is inclined to endorse a different nominee.

With insufficient votes to secure a Senate seat independently, JUI-F requires PTI’s assistance. The PTI committee has reportedly asked for time to consult with party chairman Imran Khan regarding these demands.

In contrast, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is reportedly trying to elect Talha Mahmood as a senator, a move likely to face opposition from JUI-F. Mahmood, who recently shifted his allegiance to the PPP after a decade-long association with JUI-F, complicates the matter further.

Despite substantial ideological differences between JUI-F and PTI, Maulana Fazlur Rehman indicated that reaching a consensus would be beneficial. He acknowledged the deep-seated divisions between the two parties but expressed hope that a resolution might still be possible.

“If our issues with PTI are settled, it would be positive; if not, every party has its own position,” he stated.
