Mob violence against foreign students in Bishkek broke out on Friday, with locals attacking several hostels where Pakistani, Indian and Bangladeshi students live.

Meanwhile 140 Pakistani students, stuck in Bishkek, arrived in Lahore on Saturday night, according to an interior ministry’s spokesperson.

Pakistani embassy in Kryghyzstan issued a statement in which it is said that only minor injuries had been reported, despite receiving unconfirmed reports online that several Pakistani students had been sexually assaulted and killed.

However, reports cited Kyrgyzstan authorities as saying that the situation was under control, but Pakistani students were advised to stay indoors until the situation became completely normal.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he had ordered the ambassador to provide help.

“Deeply concerned over the situation of Pakistani students in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. I have directed Pakistan’s ambassador to provide all necessary help and assistance. My office is also in touch with the embassy and constantly monitoring the situation,”

The embassy managed a helping desk in its office that work 24/7 .
