On Tuesday, Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah inaugurated the Karachi Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign by planting a sapling. The drive, which runs until August 31, aims to plant 200,000 trees in the city.
The chief secretary highlighted that the campaign’s purpose is to promote tree planting as a response to climate change. He emphasized that Pakistan faces serious environmental challenges and that tree planting is crucial for addressing these issues.
He also noted that the campaign includes not only planting but also the care and maintenance of the trees. The chief secretary called for active participation from government departments and the public to ensure the success of the initiative and the protection of forests.
Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi confirmed that 200,000 trees will be planted across the city during the campaign.
