“Major Sania Safdar Receives Prestigious UN Gender Award in Cyprus”

RAWALPINDI: Major Sania Safdar of the Pakistan Army has been honored with the United Nations Gender Award in Cyprus, becoming the first woman in a UN peacekeeping mission to receive this accolade.

Major Safdar earned this recognition for her efforts in advancing UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security.

Her role as Force Signal Officer in the UNFICYP mission involves overseeing communication systems and advocating for gender equality within the military.

Since her deployment last year, Major Safdar has led initiatives to integrate gender equality into military operations, enhancing the effectiveness of joint patrols and promoting gender representation.

Her achievement reflects Pakistan Army’s dedication to high standards and gender equality.
