Lahore goes Blue – Pakistan’s First City to Experimentally Change Road Color

-

Lahore has become Pakistan’s first city to change the color of its roads from black to blue on an experimental basis.

The traditional black asphalt roads absorb heat from the sun, making them extremely hot for pedestrians and drivers, especially during warm weather.

In contrast, the blue paint reflects sunlight, helping keep the roads cooler.

The blue roads are made of special materials, including heat-reflective oils and ceramic microspheres that reduce the surface temperature by 15-20 degrees Celsius.

This cooling effect also benefits surrounding buildings and pedestrians.

The blue roads will not only alleviate daytime heat for vehicles’ tires and improve temperature but also provide better visibility at night.
