Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been granted bail in 12 cases linked to the May 9 attacks on military installations.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) approved Khan’s bail after he fulfilled a surety bond of Rs 0.1 million.

The cases include the General Headquarters (Pakistan Army) and Army Museum attack. The court stated that there was no justification to keep Khan, 71, under arrest, as all accused in the May 9 cases were already on bail.

However, Khan will remain in jail due to convictions in other cases.

The court’s decision follows the recent victory of independent candidates, backed by Khan’s party, in the national assembly elections.

Khan and Qureshi were indicted in these cases on February 6. Khan claimed that he was illegally arrested on May 9 from the Islamabad high court premises.

The cases against Khan were registered in Rawalpindi and included the attack on the gate of General Headquarters (GHQ) and rioting in the office of a sensitive institution.

Khan has consistently denied the allegations mentioned in the First Information Reports (FIRs). After Qureshi’s release from Adiala jail, he was taken into custody by the Punjab police in connection with the GHQ attack case.
