“J.I – Government Dialogue” Fourth Round Ends Without Resolution

-

Negotiations between the government and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) reached a critical stage as the fourth round of talks concluded without a resolution on Wednesday.

These talks are essential for addressing JI’s demands.

The government presented a draft aimed at addressing JI’s concerns. The next meeting is set for Thursday.

The talks included the RPO and Commissioner of Rawalpindi, with the JI delegation led by Liaqat Baloch.

Attaullah Tarar stated, “We had positive discussions. Some issues were agreed upon in writing. The prime minister aims to reduce electricity prices and has introduced a 50 billion rupee subsidy for consumers using up to 200 units in June, July, and August.”

Tarar also announced a task force to review issues related to Independent Power Producers (IPPs). Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is committed to addressing these concerns. “Many issues have been resolved, but more remain,” he added.

Liaqat Baloch remarked, “Our peaceful sit-in has been ongoing for thirteen days. We will march around 6 pm tomorrow. The government must seriously address IPP issues. We will keep the public informed through the media.”

The talks were held at the Commissioner’s Office in Rawalpindi and included Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Kashmir.

Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Maqam, senior PML-N leader Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Prime Minister’s Media Coordinator Badr Shahbaz Warraich.
