A tweet from former NA deputy speaker Qasim Suri has sparked a heated controversy regarding Imran Khan’s health, with the PTI leader alleging that the former prime minister’s mental state is deteriorating due to his treatment in jail.
Suri claimed that Khan is confined to a small room and exposed to a poisonous substance, raising serious concerns about his well-being. “Imran Khan’s health is bad, and there are serious threats to his life,” Suri wrote, triggering widespread alarm.
In response, PTI lawyer Faisal Chaudhry criticized Suri’s statement as “misleading and harmful,” emphasizing that such sensitive matters should be addressed by the party’s leadership. Appearing on Geo News’ Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath, Chaudhry argued that public claims like these only complicate the party’s efforts, particularly those working behind the scenes to support Khan.
Despite these concerns, PTI has called for a transparent update on Khan’s health, demanding an immediate medical examination by Dr. Aasim Yousif. The party also accused authorities of isolating Khan from his family, denying him necessary medical care, and subjecting him to harsh conditions. PTI leaders have raised alarms about the human rights implications of these actions.
However, PTI leadership, including Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, quickly refuted Suri’s claims, stating that Khan is in good health. Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, who recently visited her brother in Adiala Jail, also dismissed the alarming reports. The ongoing debate within PTI highlights deepening internal divisions as the party navigates Khan’s incarceration
