Wildlife activists and conservation groups are condemning the poaching of jackals in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district,
Following the circulation of a disturbing video showing the killing and skinning of two jackals in the mountainous region of Turandian in Bagbana Tehsil.
Expressing outrage, WWF Pakistan’s Technical Advisor, Muzammil Khan, emphasized the need for swift action by Khuzdar’s deputy commissioner to address what he called a “wildlife massacre.
” The incident has also raised concerns among local communities, where there is a belief that jackal skins fetch high prices, driving such killings.
Earlier this year, a rare white leopard was similarly killed in Kerthar National Park, leading to public outcry and legal action against those responsible.
Such incidents highlight ongoing challenges in wildlife conservation efforts across Pakistan.
