PTI leader Hammad Azhar resigns from party positions

-

– Hammad tenders resignation to PTI top leaders Gohar and Ayub.

– He says he faced raids and harassment against his family.

– Hammad says he will continue to work as a party worker.

Hammad Azhar, who held the positions of Punjab President and General Secretary in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has resigned from both roles, stating the necessity for stronger leadership and direct communication with the party’s leader, Imran Khan.

Azhar posted his resignation letter, addressed to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and General Secretary Omar Ayub Khan, on his social media platform, officially declaring his resignation from his positions within the party.

In the letter, Azhar stressed the importance of having a tangible presence and direct communication with Imran Khan for the party to effectively address present challenges. Despite stepping down from leadership roles, he affirmed his dedication to PTI’s principles and expressed his determination to remain involved as an activist within the party.

“It has been an honor, but it would be selfish of me to continue while I am still in hiding and unable to represent the party even on television. In my opinion, at this stage the party would be best served by a leadership in Punjab that can be present on the ground and lead from the front,” he stated in the letter.

Azhar’s resignation comes amidst legal troubles following the events of May 9, where cases have been filed against him under terrorism and various other charges. Azhar has been noticeably absent from the public eye ever since.

In his resignation letter, Azhar acknowledged his 13-year-long dedication to PTI and reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s cause. Despite stepping down from his formal roles within the organization, Azhar indicated his readiness to continue contributing.
