Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman Demands Rs.30/Litre Petrol Cut Amid Global Oil Price Reduction

-

In light of global oil price reductions, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has urged the government to slash petrol prices by Rs30 per litre. With crude oil now priced below $67 per barrel, he argued that the government’s additional PKR 60 per litre petroleum levy is an unfair burden on the public, reported Express News on Wednesday.

Rehman suggested that eliminating this “unjust” tax could stimulate economic activity and called for immediate action to reflect the decline in global oil prices in domestic fuel costs, easing financial strain on consumers.

Earlier, on October 15, the government had raised the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs5 per litre due to global market fluctuations, while keeping petrol prices unchanged at Rs247.03 per litre. A potential petrol price reduction is expected for the fortnight beginning November 1.
