Govt Halts Privatization Plans for Expo Centers Across Pakistan

-

The federal government has decided not to privatize expo centers nationwide. This choice comes after a review of the centers’ performance, which showed increasing revenue and effective government management.

Mariam Khawar, CEO of Expo Center, explained that the decision was based on the centers’ growing revenue and operational efficiency.

She also mentioned that the former Chief Finance Officer (CFO) was dismissed due to corruption allegations, and there is an ongoing inquiry to recover misappropriated funds.

According to Khawar, the Expo Centers are financially independent and generate enough revenue to cover their costs without needing government funds.

This decision contrasts with the federal cabinet’s recent approval to privatize two departments under the Petroleum Division, including the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation and Saindak Metals Limited
