In a significant move to boost digital employment opportunities, the government has unveiled plans to expand the E-Rozgar initiative nationwide.
This effort aims to bridge the digital divide and empower the youth in smaller cities with access to the growing IT sector.
The government has announced the launch of over 250 E-Rozgar centers across Pakistan, in partnership with provincial governments and private institutions.
These centers aim to provide essential facilities to skilled and hardworking youth in smaller cities, enabling them to access digital opportunities, according to a Ministry of IT official.
E-Rozgar centers will be established in every district, with their distribution based on provincial population and data from 1.2 million freelancers registered with Ignite.
Punjab leads the initiative with 149 centers, followed by Sindh with 51, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 28, Islamabad with 11, Balochistan with 6, Azad Kashmir with 3, and Gilgit-Baltistan with 2.
Initially launched by Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Punjab, the E-Rozgar centers have proven invaluable, benefiting millions of young people.
These centers are designed to help those who cannot afford expensive office spaces, offering them an opportunity to utilize IT skills and join the digital workforce.
This initiative is expected to further empower young people to tap into the growing IT sector.
