Cyclone Alert Sindh CM Calls for Action

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has instructed local authorities and relevant departments to remain alert following a cyclone warning issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

Chief Minister Shah emphasized the need for thorough preparations in light of the forecasted heavy rainfall expected across several districts in Sindh.

He called on all departments to be ready to address any emergency situations that may arise.

The health department has been directed to enhance hospital arrangements and ensure staff presence.

Additionally, the fisheries department is tasked with ensuring the safety of fishermen due to severe sea conditions.

The irrigation department has been instructed to keep a close watch on embankments, rivers, and water passages to prevent any potential flooding.

In recent weather updates, Tharparkar district recorded the highest rainfall in Sindh with 347mm across its seven tehsils, including Diplo (74mm), Mithi (70mm), and Chhachhro (53mm).

Karachi experienced 190mm of rain, with Surjani Town receiving the highest at 30mm. Mirpur Khas saw 143mm of rainfall, while Hyderabad and Badin received 116mm and 112mm, respectively. The highest wind speed recorded was 67 km/h at Masroor Base.
