On Thursday, an accountability court in Islamabad will deliver its decision on Bushra Bibi’s plea seeking acquittal in the £190 million settlement case.
The verdict follows a hearing on September 4, during which Judge Nasir Javed Rana reserved the judgment after listening to arguments from all parties involved.
Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, has requested her acquittal in this high-profile case, which alleges that she and her husband caused substantial financial loss to the national treasury.
The previous hearing took place at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where Bushra is currently incarcerated.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has challenged Bushra’s petition, and the case also involves allegations against a property tycoon.
Despite securing post-arrest bail in July, Bushra remains in custody due to ongoing legal issues, including a fresh Toshakhana reference.
The £190 million settlement case revolves around claims that Khan and others negotiated a deal with Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA), receiving significant land assets from a property tycoon in exchange for legal cover for illicit funds. This case forms part of a broader set of legal troubles for the couple, including previous convictions and ongoing investigations.
