‘Constitutional Amendment Bill’ – Mengal Demands Release of Missing Persons for Support

-

Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal’s demand for the release of missing persons has become a pivotal issue for the ruling coalition’s efforts to pass the constitutional amendment bill.

Mengal, the chief of the Balochistan National Party Mengal (BNP-M), is insisting on the release of missing persons in return for his support of the amendment bill.

The ruling coalition, which is struggling to secure the necessary votes, has reached out to Mengal, who has indicated he will not vote until the missing persons are recovered.

With BNP-M holding two crucial Senate votes, Mengal has also requested a draft of the proposed legislation.

The bill proposes raising the retirement ages for Supreme Court and high court judges and revising the judge appointment process.
