India is, once again, finding reasons to avoid visiting Pakistan. Recently, it declined to send its cricket team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.
However, an Indian journalist has hinted at a possible solution for India’s participation.
The ICC Champions Trophy is set to take place in Pakistan next year, with the schedule announcement expected soon. India, citing security concerns, has refused to attend unless its matches are played in Dubai instead. In response, Pakistan has firmly stated that all matches will be held in Pakistan and warned that if India refuses to participate, Pakistan will not play against India in any future events.
Renowned Indian journalist LP Sahi noted that cricket is beloved by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and that the two leaders share a friendly rapport.
Sahi suggested that a phone call from Nawaz Sharif to Narendra Modi could open the door for India’s cricket team to tour Pakistan after 16 years, calling it the final and best option.
