Be Aware Karachiites

-

Be Aware Karachiites. Karachi is currently facing a concerning surge in cases of the Adenovirus, a highly transmissible illness spreading swiftly among its population.

Medical experts have pinpointed common symptoms, including cough, cold, and fever, that are posing a challenge for healthcare providers tasked with tackling this outbreak.

AMS Civil Hospital Dr. Harish Kumar said that 782 cases of AD virus and acute respiratory tract infection were reported in OPD of Civil Hospital on Saturday, while on Monday the number has increased to 1,275.

He said that most of the patients are coming with headache, cold and fever … this fever lasts for about a week.

He said that special care should be taken of children and elderly people, he suggested citizens to use boiled water and masks while avoiding substandard food.

Dr. Halar Sheikh, Registrar at Jinnah Hospital, sounds the alarm on the rapid transmission and symptoms of the Adenovirus, stressing the importance of vigilance and necessary precautions.

To combat the outbreak, Dr. Sheikh recommends rest and a diet rich in fresh fruits and juices to boost immune systems. He highlights the virus’s severity, especially for vulnerable groups, and advises against junk food consumption and minimizing physical contact to reduce the risk of transmission.

Dr. Faisal Javed, general physician of Jinnah Hospital Karachi, said that Adeno is not a new virus, there is a vaccine for it, it is possible to prevent it through influenza and corona vaccine, diabetics and asthma patients should be more careful.

He said that since it is a viral infection that is capable of being transmitted from one person to another, there is no need to panic, just citizens should maintain social distance from each other and wear masks.

Health authorities in Karachi are actively working to contain the spread of the Adenovirus outbreak and provide essential medical assistance to affected individuals. Remember we have to prevent this virus from coming toward us so, be aware Karachiites! We’ll keep you posted about this new Virus!
