CJP Bandial Warns Government Against Interfering in Judiciary

-

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial on Thursday said that the government should consult the Supreme Court before bringing any legislation concerning the judiciary.

The CJP made these remarks while hearing a case pertaining to the appointment of judges in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

During the hearing, the CJP expressed concern over the delay in the appointment of judges in the LHC and said that the government should consult the apex court before bringing any legislation concerning the judiciary.

The CJP also directed the government to submit a report on the appointment of judges in the LHC within two weeks.

The hearing was adjourned till June 16.

The CJP’s remarks come at a time when the government is facing criticism from the opposition for its alleged attempts to interfere in the judiciary.

The opposition has accused the government of trying to pack the courts with its loyalists.

The government has denied these allegations.

The CJP’s remarks are likely to further fuel the controversy surrounding the government’s alleged attempts to interfere in the judiciary.

“The government should consult the Supreme Court before bringing any legislation concerning the judiciary,”

Said CJP Bandial.

The CJP’s remarks are a reminder to the government that it must respect the independence of the judiciary. The government should refrain from any attempts to interfere in the judiciary and should instead focus on working with the judiciary to uphold the rule of law.
