Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Quetta for a one-day visit to evaluate the security situation in Balochistan, following a series of terrorist attacks last week.
The province experienced a surge in violence when militants from the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) launched multiple attacks, resulting in the deaths of at least 50 people, including 14 security personnel.
During his visit, PM Sharif will lead a high-level meeting on law and order and was greeted by key officials, including Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti and newly-appointed provincial police chief Moazzam Jah Ansari.
The visit aims to address the recent escalation in violence, which saw militants attacking police stations, destroying railway tracks, and setting fire to numerous vehicles. Security forces have since neutralized 21 militants in response.
