Showdown in Lahore: Balochistan Rights March Blocked, Mansoorah Under Siege

-

Lahore -Tensions flared in Lahore as the Haqooq-e-Balochistan Long March, led by Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, was dramatically halted by Punjab police upon entering the city. The convoy, bound for Islamabad to demand justice for Balochistan, was barricaded at Mansoorah, triggering a political and human rights storm.

A massive police deployment—armed with water cannons, prisoner vans, and anti-riot gear—sealed all roads around Mansoorah, trapping the marchers and igniting outrage among supporters.

The march, which kicked off five days ago from Quetta, aims to highlight the plight of Balochistan’s people and hold the federal government accountable for decades of alleged oppression and neglect.

“State Repression in Full Swing!”
Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General Ameer-ul-Azeem slammed the government’s tactics, calling the blockade “cheap and cowardly.” He demanded the immediate removal of all obstacles and declared, “You can’t silence Balochistan with force!”

Talks in High Gear, Stakes Soar
Behind closed doors, high-stakes negotiations are underway between senior ministers Maryam Aurangzeb, Sohaib Bharth, and Jamaat leaders including Liaqat Baloch, Ameer-ul-Azeem, and Hidayat-ur-Rehman. Punjab Health Minister Salman Rafique also rushed to Mansoorah for emergency talks on the march’s fate.

City on Edge
Lahore has turned into a fortress. With fears of unrest, the police presence has intensified across the city. Authorities have rolled out riot-control units, ready for any escalation.

Meanwhile, marchers vow to continue their peaceful protest. “We’re not turning back. This is a battle for our constitutional rights,” declared one participant, standing defiant amid the blockade.
