This initiative is part of her broader vision to uplift the living standards of Punjab’s residents by providing affordable housing and financial relief.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz introduced the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program on Wednesday, aimed at providing affordable housing.
In her speech, Maryam Nawaz highlighted the government’s dedication to rapidly constructing homes for those in need, expressing pride in the successful launch of the scheme.
“We have achieved the creation of this scheme, and we will swiftly build homes and deliver them to the people,” she said.
She further mentioned that both she and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had been eagerly anticipating this initiative.
She noted that during Nawaz Sharif’s tenure, he provided land to farmers, and now they are continuing that legacy.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of homeownership, stating, “It is said that providing someone with a home and a roof is the greatest service.
” To support this vision, she announced that the government would offer an interest-free loan of 1.5 million rupees for 5 marla land in urban areas and 10 marla land in rural areas.
“No payments will be required for the first three months,” she added.
The Punjab CM also discussed the affordability of the scheme, explaining that the monthly installment would be 14,000 rupees.
“I understand the struggles of low-income families, and this scheme is designed to alleviate their financial burden,” she remarked.
In addition to the housing initiative, Maryam Nawaz announced a significant relief package for electricity bills, amounting to 45 to 50 billion rupees.
She also unveiled plans for Pakistan’s largest solar program, set to launch next year, with the goal of eliminating electricity bills in the future.
“Next year, we will introduce the largest solar program in history so that you won’t have to pay electricity bills,” she announced.
