Administration Considers Blocking ID Cards and Mobile SIMs of Parents Who Refuse Polio Vaccination

-

Amid rising concerns over polio, the district administration is contemplating severe actions against parents who refuse to vaccinate their children.

Deputy Commissioner Zainul Abidin Memon revealed that officials are considering measures to block the identity cards and mobile SIMs of these parents.

Memon pointed out that refusal to vaccinate has allowed the polio virus to persist in Hyderabad, with some parents moving their children to relatives’ homes to avoid vaccination during campaigns.

In a recent development, Memon confirmed that a 29-month-old girl from Liaquat Colony has been diagnosed with polio. The virus has affected her legs due to malnutrition, but it has not caused complete paralysis. Addressing her nutritional needs may help her regain mobility.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the girl had received polio drops, which mitigated the virus’s impact, and stressed that vaccination is vital for preventing polio and protecting children from lifelong disability.
