The Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment (FOSPA) has imposed a fine of 1 million rupees on a suspect who sent inappropriate WhatsApp messages.
According to details, the Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment, Fauzia Waqar, ruled against Hassan Ali Khan Laghari, finding him guilty of harassment and ordering him to pay damages of 1 million rupees.
The President’s Office also upheld FOSPA’s decision, rejecting Hassan Ali Khan Laghari’s appeal against the ruling, thus maintaining the fine imposed by the Federal Ombudsperson.
According to the FOSPA spokesperson, Syeda Gulbadan Shahid had filed a complaint alleging that the accused sent inappropriate and offensive messages via WhatsApp. The accused denied all allegations.
The Federal Ombudsperson ruled that the accused had violated the law protecting women from workplace harassment. His appeal to the President’s Office was denied, confirming FOSPA’s decision to impose the fine.
