Pakistani legend Anwar Maqsood, renowned writer, comedian, and host, has issued an apology regarding his controversial statement about the Pakistan Army and has refuted the rumors of his abduction circulating on social media.
Recently, he attended the 4-day International Urdu Conference, held in Karachi in collaboration with the Arts Council and Geo, where he clarified his remarks.
It’s important to note that a few days ago, Anwar Maqsood was invited as a guest to a private university, where his statement about the Pakistan Army sparked controversy, and a video of it went viral on social media.
Anwar Maqsood and his wife also paid tribute to the memories of Moin Akhtar.
The video containing the controversial statement quickly spread across social media, leading to rumors that Anwar Maqsood had been abducted.
Actress Madihah Rizvi even took to Instagram, sharing a story and asking users to verify these rumors. However, the humorist himself has now addressed and denied these claims at the International Urdu Conference.
While clarifying and apologizing for his previous statement at the Karachi Arts Council, Anwar Maqsood emphasized that he never meant to offend anyone.
He further denied the abduction rumors, stating that he is safe and secure, and that such claims are unfounded.
Expressing his respect for the Navy, Armed Forces, and all Pakistani institutions, he added, “I have been writing for 60 years, reading books, and I would never joke about martyrs. I owe my life to them; they sacrificed for me. That’s why I write today, and I could never even think of such a thing.”
