Founder PTI Aleema Khan has alleged that overseas Pakistanis are threatened for raising their voices, stating that if they stop sending remittances, the government will fail to function.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, she claimed that Pakistan has been suffering from state terrorism for the past two and a half years. Referring to the events of May 9, she accused the perpetrators of stealing CCTV footage and claimed that 16 people were killed by snipers. She also criticized the government for spreading fear, demolishing homes, and mistreating women, actions she said were unprecedented in the country’s history. She emphasized, “An unjust system cannot survive, even though a system of disbelief might.”
Khan accused the government of stealing votes, adding that once people refuse to be treated like sheep, the oppressive system will collapse. She highlighted the D-Chowk operation on Jinnah Avenue, claiming that 150 people are missing as a result. She further criticized the dismantling of democracy, judiciary, and media, predicting dire consequences for the country, including a lack of investment and security.
She presented two demands: the formation of a JIT under Supreme Court judges to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26 and the release of all detainees. If these demands are not met, she warned of initiating civil disobedience.
Khan also addressed the plight of overseas Pakistanis, stating they contribute billions of dollars but face threats when raising their concerns abroad, with their homes in Pakistan being targeted. She warned that if the demands are not met by Friday, overseas Pakistanis would be urged to stop sending remittances, which would disrupt the government’s functioning. She also hinted at possible negotiations if the establishment extended an offer.
Expressing her anger, she said that the missing people and mistreatment of prisoners reflect grave injustices, adding, “Parents are asking about their missing children in jails, and we are pursuing this as a matter of humanity, not politics.”
Concluding her statement, Aleema Khan remarked that the first sign of crisis will be Mohsin Naqvi fleeing the country.
