India’s Champions Trophy victory will not be marked with a grand celebration, as the BCCI has opted against a bus parade or official ceremony— a stark contrast to last year’s T20 World Cup festivities.
Following their T20 World Cup win in the West Indies and the USA, the team was welcomed with a massive parade in Mumbai, where thousands of fans joined the celebrations, followed by an event at Wankhede Stadium. However, this time, the players are returning home separately.
Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya arrived in Mumbai on Monday night to a warm reception, while head coach Gautam Gambhir and fast bowler Harshit Rana landed in New Delhi. Virat Kohli is also expected to return soon.
“All the players with families left from Dubai on Monday. Some have stayed back for a couple of days,” a BCCI source revealed.
Despite the lack of a grand reception, India’s Champions Trophy victory remains a historic achievement. The celebrations may be muted, but the triumph speaks for itself—another chapter of dominance in Indian cricket.
