Skin experts caution that during current weather conditions, characterized by harsh ultraviolet rays and rising humidity, it’s essential for people to take proper precautions to prevent skin issues. Excessive sweating can lead to problems like burns and infections.
Dr. Mubashir Mushtaq Daha, a renowned skin specialist speaking to PTV News channel, highlighted that skin allergies and heat rashes are common during scorching months, with an increased risk of sunburn potentially leading to skin cancer.
While protecting the skin from harmful rays is crucial year-round, Dr. Daha emphasized the importance of extra precautions, especially during sunny summer days when the risk is higher.
Exposure to sun and heat can dry out the skin, Dr. Daha explained, exacerbated by factors such as excessive sun exposure, hot showers, and dehydration due to inadequate water intake.
This summer has witnessed a rise in fungal infections, particularly among frequent travelers between cities, Dr. Daha noted.
For relief from itching, Dr. Daha recommended using aloe vera and rose water to soothe the skin.
To prevent skin issues, citizens are advised to wear lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton or linen, allowing the skin to breathe and reducing moisture buildup. Dr. Daha warned against wearing tight clothes, which can foster bacterial growth.
Dr. Khurram Mushir, another skin specialist, emphasized that insects are more active during summer, with stings or bites potentially causing allergic reactions ranging from mild redness to severe swelling.
He also mentioned that seasonal allergies can affect the skin, especially during high pollen seasons, leading to contact dermatitis characterized by itchy rashes.
