British footwear brand Loake Shoemakers has partnered with UK tech company Buyerdock to introduce digital product passports for its entire product range.
This collaboration aims to boost transparency, sustainability, and customer engagement, aligning with the brand’s commitment to responsible practices.
Through these digital passports, customers will be able to access key product information, such as material origins, sustainability initiatives, and care tips, by scanning a QR code powered by GS1 digital link technology.
Loake’s sustainability manager, Ian Smith, emphasized that this initiative enhances customer experience while ensuring compliance with EU packaging regulations.
The move positions Loake ahead of future EU sustainability standards, making them one of the early adopters in the shoe industry.
Buyerdock co-founder Kevin Dixie highlighted the importance of this technology, stating that the automation of digital product passports will be vital for brands as they prepare to meet upcoming EU regulations.
