Hafiz Naeem’s stand against injustice

In Karachi, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), declared his decision to voluntarily vacate his seat in the Sindh Assembly, emphasizing that they reject the notion of a seat obtained through charity.

While holding a press conference in Karachi, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said: “I am returning my seat, I have so much courage and will not take that seat. If they have blown us away, they cannot remove us from the heart of the nation”.

He stated that they will fight a legal and political battle. ‘You cannot change people’s minds with a fake mandate, 26,000 votes were shown, while they are more than 30,000, we want seats that we won’.

Jamaat-e-Islami chief continued to say that the polling process did not start on time at many polling stations on February 8. As time passed, they kept complaining that polling did not start and people were deprived of their right to vote.

The operatives first removed the cameras and started filling the boxes. Form-45 was not being given, a large number of polling agents were not provided with forms, Form 47 was the worst rigged, he added.

The political leader further said that offices of Returning Officers (ROs) were sealed from all sides so that no one could go inside. ‘We will continue to bring the facts to the public, more people voted for Jamaat-e-Islami this time than in the municipal elections’.

Hafiz Naeem also stated that the voters either cast for JI or Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed independent candidates, what is happening in the whole country is nothing more than a spectacle, it is a mandate of coercion.
