Donald Trump, known for his fiery persona, has been reimagined in a serene and unexpected light. In a craftsman’s workshop in rural China, a porcelain version of Trump sits cross-legged in a meditative pose, resembling Buddha.

Created by artist Hong Jinshi, these Zen-inspired sculptures went viral in 2021 on China’s Taobao platform. They have since regained popularity, especially with Trump’s second term in focus.

Initially designed as a joke, these sculptures are now a sought-after item, priced between 999 yuan and 20,000 yuan (US$135 to US$2,700) depending on size. Hong recalls the surge of interest following Trump’s 2016 election victory and the renewed fascination as Trump prepares for his second term.
