The Science Center organized the event at its Dr. Phillips CineDome, where 271 participants had the opportunity to launch rockets three times within a 15-second period.

Although nine participants were disqualified, 262 rockets were successfully launched, surpassing the 250 mark and securing the Guinness World Record.

According to a press release from the Science Center, the paper rockets used in the record attempt were made entirely of paper and designed to fit inside a straw. When air was blown into the straw, the rocket would take flight.

A Guinness World Records official was present to verify the record.
