Gen Z slang officially becomes part of English Litreture
The Cambridge Dictionary has added over 6,000 new words this year — and many come straight from TikTok, memes, and Gen Z slang.
Some of the most popular new entries are:
Skibidi – A silly word from online memes. It can mean “cool,” “bad,” or sometimes nothing at all.
Delulu – Short for “delusional,” used when someone believes things that aren’t true.
Tradwife – A trend on Instagram/TikTok where women follow very traditional housewife roles.
Cambridge Dictionary official Colin McIntosh said: “It’s not every day you see words like skibidi and delulu in the dictionary. But internet culture is changing English.”
Other new words include:
Lewk – A bold fashion look.
Inspo – Short for inspiration.
Mouse jiggler – A device to make it look like you’re working from home when you’re not.
Forever chemicals – Dangerous man-made chemicals that stay in the environment for years.
Even celebrities like Kim Kardashian helped make these internet words famous.
👉 Bottom line: Social media slang isn’t just online anymore—it’s now part of real English.
