A museum café in China has introduced a coffee so unusual that it has taken social media by storm and left users around the world stunned.

This 45-yuan Cockroach Coffee has become a hot topic everywhere because of its shocking and unique recipe. The drink is made with ground cockroach powder and dried mealworms, which are also sprinkled on top of the coffee.
According to the South China Morning Post, this special coffee is served at an insect-themed museum café in Beijing. Although the drink was launched a few months ago, it recently gained massive attention online.
One staff member explained, “Since our museum is all about insects, we thought our drinks should reflect the same theme.”
Interestingly, young adults love trying this weird creation, while children and parents usually stay cautious and avoid it.
The café says that all ingredients — including insect powders — are sourced from traditional Chinese medicine stores to ensure quality and safety.
Traditional medicine experts claim that cockroach powder helps improve blood circulation, while protein-rich mealworms are believed to boost immunity.
The museum café now sells more than 10 cups of this bizarre coffee every day.
Along with Cockroach Coffee, the café is also offering more experimental drinks, including:
- A plant-based drink made from pitcher plant extract, said to taste like regular coffee
- A Halloween special made using ants, which customers described as having a sour flavor
China’s obsession with unusual coffee blends is growing rapidly. Earlier, a café in Yunnan went viral for topping its coffee with deep-fried worms.
