The Utility Stores Corporation has announced a significant price cut on over 800 essential products, including ghee, cooking oil, tea, and other household goods.
The reduction ranges from 8 to 60 rupees per item, depending on the product. This price drop applies to various brands and products such as ghee, cooking oil, tea, detergents, noodles, ketchup, milk, dry milk, spices, pickles, soap, and toothpaste.
The price adjustments are effective immediately, according to a notification from the Utility Stores Corporation.
Although the Benazir Income Support Program subsidy is currently on hold, it will be reinstated soon through a new system. The spokesperson for the corporation assured that the aim is to further decrease prices on additional items.
In related news, the federal government had previously proposed shutting down utility stores across Pakistan due to financial constraints, as discussed in a Senate committee meeting.
The proposed plan, prepared by the Rightsizing Committee, includes the closure of stores and other entities to cut costs.
