-

In the wake of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) three-day protest in Islamabad, the national treasury has borne a hefty cost exceeding 50 crore rupees. Organized primarily for security reasons, the protest required extensive deployment and resources, leading to significant expenses.

According to sources, the federal police spent a total of 33 crore 28 lakh rupees on container rentals, purchasing 35,000 tear gas shells, rubber bullets, and firearms.

Additionally, over 12,000 personnel from the federal police, Punjab police, Sindh police, and FC were stationed across Islamabad from November 23 to 26. An extra 17 crore rupees were allocated for their meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), fuel for police vehicles, and other associated costs.

The sources further revealed that in order to seal 24 key locations during the PTI protest at D-Chowk, more than 800 containers were deployed, costing the Islamabad police an additional 7 crore 28 lakh rupees for rental fees.

Moreover, the acquisition of rubber bullets and 2,500 firearms added a further 11 crore rupees to the total expenditure.
