Islamabad: Inflation in Pakistan has declined for the second consecutive month, but the prices of essential goods continue to fluctuate, affecting consumers differently across income groups.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the annual inflation growth rate has slowed to 1.21%, with the weekly rate dropping to 0.27%. Over the past week, 16 essential items saw price reductions, while 11 became costlier and 24 remained unchanged. Major price drops were recorded in tomatoes, diesel, and gram lentils, whereas bananas (11.89%), eggs (7.80%), and chicken (4.47%) saw significant hikes.
Data further reveals that inflation impacts vary by income, with lower-income groups experiencing a relatively smaller increase, while higher-income households continue to face steeper price hikes.
