Eid-ul-Adha 2025 by the Numbers – 6.97M Sacrifices, Rs. 500B Spent, Rs. 6.35B in Hides!

.

The Tannery Association has dropped the official numbers: 6.97 million animals were sacrificed across Pakistan this Eid — but that’s 600,000 to 1 million fewer than last year.

Despite the dip, the scale stayed massive — 3 million cows, 3.4 million goats, 400,000 sheep, and 100,000 camels met the knife. Interestingly, prices took a mixed turn: cow rates fell by Rs 25,000 to Rs 150,000, while goats saw a steep rise of Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. Camels? Even pricier this time.

Total animal trade still clocked under Rs 500 billion, and the value of hides came in at Rs 6.35 billion.

Fewer hooves, but heavier price tags!
