The 2024 World Happiness Report has been released, with Finland as the happiest country for the seventh consecutive year. .
Pakistan scoring 4.7 stands at 108 As per the report, the young and youth of Pakistan are the happiest among the population while old people are least happy in Pakistan. Pakistan outclassed India as Mod-led India ranked 126, the same as last year, in the happiness index India’s score is 4.1 .
Pakistanis have consistently outperformed their neighbors in happiness index, despite facing unfavorable circumstances, showcasing a trend rather than an isolated occurrence.
How is happiness ranked ?
The happiness ranking is based on individuals’ self-assessed evaluations of following six factors
- life satisfaction
- GDP per capita
- Social support,
- Healthy life expectancy,
- Freedom
- Generosity and corruption.

Afghanistan stayed at the bottom of the 143 countries surveyed.
Nordic countries kept their places among the 10 most cheerful, with Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden trailing Finland.
For the first time since the report was published more than a decade ago, the United States and Germany were not among the 20 happiest nations, coming in 23rd and 24th respectively.In turn, Costa Rica and Kuwait entered the top 20 at 12 and 13.
“In the top 10 countries only the Netherlands and Australia have populations over 15 million. In the whole of the top 20, only Canada and the UK have populations over 30 million.”
The annual report evaluates happiness levels across world’s 143 nations, considering factors such as social support, income, health, freedom, generosity, and the absence of corruption.
Data is sourced from various outlets, including the Gallup World Poll, and the report is published annually in celebration of the International Day of Happiness on March 20. Collaborators include the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Gallup, and the Oxford Wellbeing .
