As soon as a video surfaced of Rihanna arriving in India on X, it seemed like every news outlet—and person—in the world was talking about the “pre-wedding” weekend of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
The social media sphere is abuzz with the extravagant pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani, capturing widespread attention.
Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding festivities have become a grand affair, attracting a constellation of stars, international business magnates, sports icons, and Bollywood luminaries to the opulent setting of Mukesh Ambani’s residence in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
Though no Pakistani was invited at the Ambani wedding however Pakistani influence found its place through various channels. Numerous celebrities chose to don attire crafted by Pakistani designers and so, the name of Pakistan made its way into the news one way or another.
Several Bollywood luminaries opted for attire from Pakistani designers, such as Faraz Manan and Hussain Rehar, with notable names like Sonam Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, and Mira Kapoor among them.
This trend isn’t new, as previously, esteemed personalities like Kareena Kapoor, Sridevi, Kiara Advani, and Shah Rukh Khan have also favored Pakistani designers for special occasions.
Furthermore, the presence of Indian celebrities in campaigns for Pakistani brands, like Palak Tiwari and Sonam Bajwa, adds to the cross-cultural fashion exchange.
Faraz Manan made a notable appearance twice during this three-day wedding extravaganza. He skillfully styled Ranbir Kapoor in a sophisticated all-black ensemble.
Manan’s craftsmanship was undeniable, as he adorned the actor in an elegant design featuring black sequins and intricate embroidery, complementing Kapoor’s familiar charm.
This stunning ensemble not only captivated fashion enthusiasts but also garnered viral attention on the internet after Kapoor posed for a photo with Indian badminton player Parupalli Kashyap, which was shared on Kashyap’s Instagram handle.
Not to be outdone, Mira Rajput, the wife of actor Shahid Kapoor, flaunted her style in a custom creation by Manan. Her pastel grey ensemble featured a rhinestone-covered top with lace detailing on a flowing quarter-sleeved blouse, paired with a snug skirt, made all the more enticing by a fabulous motif on the back – and a leg slit. In shoewear, Mira threw in elegant diamante-encrusted pink Gedebe heels.
Joining the roster of Bollywood stars embracing Pakistani designs at the Ambani wedding, Sonam Kapoor turned heads in a chic fit from renowned designer Hussain Rehar’s high street line, Jugnu. The outfit, aptly named Eclipse, originally consisted of a black halter sleeveless embroidered top and an ivory A-line box-pleated skirt adorned with black thread detailing.
As per Jugnu’s official website, the final touch taking the look to new levels of voguish comes from a black tailored trench coat sporting intricate embroidery in ivory – effortlessly stylish enough to sway the Sanju actor. However, adding a personalised flair to the Pakistani designer’s creation, Sonam opted for a plain white top instead of the halter version
As the wedding festivities drew to a close, the presence of Bollywood stars in Pakistani designer outfits served as a testament to the enduring allure of cross-border fashion collaborations. With their impeccable taste and unparalleled style, they brought a touch of glamour and sophistication to Anant Ambani’s nuptials, leaving a lasting impression on attendees and fashion enthusiasts alike.
