93,000 E-Challans in 30 Days-Fines Cross Rs 700 Million in Karachi

Karachi’s traffic police have released a month-long breakdown of e-challans, revealing that more than Rs 700 million in fines were issued within just 30 days. The city’s traffic cameras caught over 93,000 violations, with most penalties given for not wearing seat belts.

According to officials, 57,541 drivers were fined for skipping seat belts, while 22,227 motorcyclists received challans for riding without helmets. Cameras also flagged 1,188 heavy vehicles for overspeeding through onboard trackers, along with 2,699 regular drivers caught speeding and 3,102 motorists violating traffic signals.

The report further shows 1,278 challans for fancy number plates, 1,178 for tinted windows, 611 for stop-line violations, and 426 for driving in the wrong direction.

In total, fines included Rs 575.41 million for not wearing seat belts, Rs 111.35 million for helmet violations, and Rs 29.45 million for tinted windows.

Authorities confirmed that the e-challan crackdown will continue, with citywide cameras actively spotting offenders in real time.
