Karachi’s Transport Revolution-Double-Decker & EV Buses Coming Next Week!

🚦 “Karachi, are you ready to ride in style?” 🚦 The Sindh government has announced that double-decker buses, new EV buses, and new Peoples Bus Service routes across the province are set to hit the roads next week!

In a meeting chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, top transport officials including Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, SMTA MD Kanwal Nizam Bhutto, TransKarachi CEO Fawad Ghafar Somer, and Yellow Line BRT PD Zamir Abbasi reviewed progress on BRT projects and upcoming transport initiatives.

Officials briefed the minister on the Yellow Line and Red Line BRT, the upcoming EV taxi service, and Phase 2 of the Pink Scooties scheme.

Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the double-decker and EV buses are expected in Karachi next week, with new routes launching to make commuting easier for the public.

He added that the government plans to start EV taxis by December and bring 500 more buses this fiscal year, while new Peoples Bus routes in Sindh districts will start soon.

Authorities were instructed to complete operational preparations, train women and students to drive Scooties, and accelerate Yellow Line BRT work. The Taj Haider Bridge’s second phase will also begin shortly, with two-way traffic already operational.

Sharjeel Inam Memon emphasized the urgent relocation of utilities to avoid delays and ensure smooth progress.
