In a detailed report, The Guardian praised Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for standing out among global leaders including U.S. President Donald Trump, Italy’s Giorgia Meloni, and Britain’s Keir Starmer at the Sharm El-Sheikh Global Summit.
The British daily wrote that while Trump’s unpredictable behavior unsettled several leaders — from teasing Meloni and confusing Starmer to making awkward jokes about others — Shehbaz Sharif remained composed and in control.
According to the report, Trump arrived more than two hours late, complimented Meloni’s looks, and gestured to Starmer as if inviting him to speak, only to grab the mic himself, leaving the British PM embarrassed.
Amid the chaos, Shehbaz Sharif managed Trump tactfully by offering him well-timed praise and even stopping him politely when he tried to interrupt — a move that reportedly impressed the American president.
The Guardian concluded that while most world leaders struggled to handle Trump’s unpredictable energy, only Shehbaz Sharif succeeded in keeping the situation under control, earning him a rare nod from the British press for his diplomatic poise.
